Bio

In 2009, start-up entrepreneur Matt Mostad was inspired to create iSheetMusic by a time immemorial campfire sing-along. "Three of us said we could play and we started to pass the guitar around with the group singing," he explains. "Unfortunately, among the three of us, we could only manage to remember six songs.  We had a group of people willing to sing into the wee hours and three reasonably good guitar players, but without sheet music our experience wasn't what it could have been." Mostad sensed an opportunity: to create an app that takes the communal experience of music and makes it more portable and more dynamic than ever before. Combining his passion as a hobbyist musician with his background in start-up expertise, Mostad teamed with Matthew Sutton to create iSheetMusic – the world's first fully dynamic mobile sheet music app. 

Supported by agreements with two of the world's largest sheet music publishers, Hal Leonard Corporation and Alfred Music Publishing, iSheetMusic is poised to revolutionize the print music industry for the 21st century. The free app will allow musicians to view, transport, and play sheet music anytime and anywhere on their iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

iSheetMusic comes pre-equipped with a number of public domain songs, as well as unparalleled access to an ever-expanding catalog of tens of thousands more, which users can purchase directly from iSheetMusic.net, or from within the app. Downloaded music is dynamic and interactive, featuring a built-in metronome which counts in the song, keeps the beat, and automatically turns pages.

Mostad and Sutton's dedication to helping "more people to play more music" comes from a deep personal connection to the shared experience of music. Said Mostad of his own childhood, "Music was integral to our family life.  We sang around the piano, at church and at school. I knew that music engaged a part of me like nothing else did and that I would be writing, singing, and performing for the rest of my life."

Founders

Matt Mostad has been the founder or co-founder of several successful companies in the Pacific Northwest.  He has over 20 years experience in building companies from inception through product development, partnerships, and profits.  He has played the role of board member, CEO, SVP and advisor to both public and private companies.

Matthew Sutton has spent nearly four decades building companies in a variety of industries.  For 15 years, Sutton was the primary audio tech for recording, broadcast and live facilities in the Pacific Northwest, building and maintaining studios for Microsoft, Steve Miller, Heart, Paul Allen and dozens of others, as well as building unique custom electronics solutions in the audio field. Since transitioning to computer technology, he has built IT, internet service, and software companies, taking a practical approach to producing cutting edge solutions.
