FALL AND WINTER CONCERTS

As the weather starts to turn and the air begins to chill, why not keep warm with the sweaty masses at a concert? Here is part one of our list of must see concerts for this fall and winter.

Colbie Caillat (Seattle: 10/7)

FALL PLAYLIST (PART 2)

Continuing the list from the last blog [link], here are few more songs in our library that I think fit the upcoming season so perfectly.

Frederic Chopin - Nocturne In Eb Major, Op. 9, No. 2

FALL PLAYLIST (PART 1)

Some people look forward to fall for leaves changing colors, fashion, or pumpkin spice lattes. Now all of these things are fine and I can enjoy them too, but what I look forward to is making mixes that fit the mood of the season. Fall brings about such calmness and introspection. Here are some favorites from our library, spanning genres from classical to alternative:

Cannonball Adderly and Miles Davis – Autumn Leaves

REFLECTING ON THE EAGLES

When I was 13 years old, my taste in music was still developing. I was caught in a whirl wind of the digital age of music and corporate radio playing the latest pop-punk hits. I was only beginning to actually have an interest in it outside of my favorite theme songs. That’s why I still feel surprised, and honored that my first concert was The Eagles.

ELTON JOHN: MELODY MAN

In the 1970s, rock music had finally made leaps into more aggressive sounds. Bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and punk rockers like The Sex Pistols were making their big breaks. Amidst all of this was pianist singer/songwriter Elton John. His music wasn’t as aggressive but he put on an equally colorful show as the hard rockers. But when I think of Elton John, the first things that come to mind are his melodies.

THE LEGACY OF STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

No matter how big of a star a band or artist is, they typically have at least one song that could be listed as their definitive track; a song that encapsulates both the band’s style and popularity.

But then there are even more extreme cases where a song takes on a legacy outside of the band and creates its own culture. Enter Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.”
